TG

TG is short for "Thank God It’s Friday," and the event typically falls on a Friday. TGs happen about once a month, in collaboration with the Full-time MBA cohorts, where we meet, relax, cheer over seasonal celebrations, and enjoy some live music from the Foster Creative student band. Bring your blue dot (aka partner, family, or friends)!

Wednesday Happy Hour

Happy hours are likely the best way MBAs get to know one another. After a long night of work and class, students gather at one of a revolving selection of bars to share a pint, commiserate, and network. Happy hours are always fun, and serve as a great way to meet peers from other cohorts while catching up with old friends. Once a quarter, the MBAA hosts a special on-campus happy hour in Paccar Hall that features a selection of food and drink and attendance by faculty and administrative staff!

Autumn Quarter

Mariners Game

This is an event that sells out every year! It is the first opportunity for incoming students to connect with students in other years and the first official MBAA event for the upcoming academic year. This event is open to all students and their blue dots. It includes a pregame at a bar close to the stadium, a ticket to the game, a chance to root on your Seattle Mariners, and an opportunity to connect with someone else in the program.

Summer BBQ

The Summer BBQ is held a few weeks before classes begin on the lawn behind PACCAR Hall at the UW Campus. It is open to all incoming students and their blue dots (family and friends). This is an opportunity to meet your cohort and make some new friends before the quarter begins. We provide food, games, and there are also tours of PACCAR hall available, so you know where you are going on day 1 of classes.

Experience Foster (Club Fair)

Come visit the once-a-year club fair on campus and join in the cause and conversations that resonate with you. Don’t forget to prep ahead of time by checking out our club directory here.

C4C 5K Run

This is a great way to kick off your C4C fundraising; anyone you get to sign up directs funds to C4C (Challenge 4 Charity), and there will be opportunities to win fun Foster swag through social media contests in the week of the event. Also, it's an excuse to get outside and run, walk, roll, or stroll with a small group! Any friends, family or coworkers you get to sign up for the 5K also count towards your fundraising amount for the year--just make sure they list you as the student they are sponsoring when registering. This is an easy way to fundraise as folks can participate in the 5K from anywhere, anytime over the course of the weekend.

Winter Quarter

Whistler Trip

This is an annual tradition where evening and full-time cohorts gather up in the Whistler Village for a powder filled weekend of fun. If skiing, snowboarding, or ice skating is not your jam, no worries! The village offers a range of relaxing SPA, exquisite cuisines and memorable night life. Blue dots welcome!

Frosters

Commonly referred to as "MBA Prom", this is our mid-winter formal gala. We dress in our best black tie to enjoy an evening of cocktails, light bites, and plenty of dancing.

C4C Auction

The annual auction gala is entirely MBA student driven and is the largest fundraising source for our charities. Students reach out to alumni for materialized donations. All C4C donations are tax deductible, and 100% of the net proceeds go to the Special Olympics of Washington, the Boys & Girls Club of King County, and the University District Food Bank. Challenge 4 Charity is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization of the Internal Revenue Service. Every year, 300+ community members, ranging from early 30s to retirement age, attend the auction, providing broad visibility to C4C causes.

Spring Quarter

C4C Sports Weekend

C4C Sports Weekend is the culmination of a year’s worth of volunteering and fundraising efforts for our partner charities. Nine west coast MBA programs gather in California each April to compete in various sporting events for the Golden Briefcase. This coveted award goes to the school that achieves the highest score in the following categories: most hours volunteered (per-capita), most funds raised (per-capita), best all-around performance at C4C Sports Weekend. Foster has taken home the Golden Briefcase for the past 5 years!

Fosters

Fosters is the end-of-year celebration where we present student and professor awards and welcome the summer. Over the past two years, this event was hosted at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture, which provided a beautiful backdrop for golden hour selfies, friendly conversation, and sick dance moves.

Graduation

The MBAA graduation is a special celebration among evening MBA students that showcases the triumph and accomplishment of completing the program. The MBAA supports graduation by hosting an event worthy of sending off our classmates into the bright future.
